3 Reasons Why Your LinkedIn Profile Needs To Be Updated Now!

Are you using LinkedIn to grow your business? Or have you been thinking of using it but haven’t got around to it yet? LinkedIn is essential for all B2B businesses but can also be very effective for B2C businesses. Currently 97% of the people using LinkedIn are using it wrong…the other 3% are getting amazing results and are increasing their visibility, credibility and growing their business faster than they ever could before. Why You Need a Great LinkedIn Profile Right Now 1. Your Prospects Are Already Looking Up Your Name. LinkedIn is one of the top ranked sites in Google so when your clients Google you (and they will), one of the VERY first things that comes up, is your LinkedIn profile. This one point alone essentially makes your LinkedIn profile more important than your website. 2. Your Profile Needs SEO Just Like Your Website. Your profile needs to be optimized for the keywords you want to be found for. When someone searches on LinkedIn for what you do or offer, you can’t afford to have your competitors come up first! LinkedIn is extremely powerful for B2B but can also be very effective for B2C with the right strategy. 3. [...]

7 Content Writing Tips For Your Social Media Strategy

If you really want a great social media strategy then you need to stop writing boring content. The following seven steps will have your readers hooked and coming back for more: 1. This may sound elementary, my dear Watson, but you always need to watch your grammar and spelling. Speak kindly to your audience and make sure you spell correctly. No one wants to read a poorly written blog. Even if your message is great, you will lose your audience with poor delivery and slowly erode your credibility. Spell check is your friend! 2. In the same vein, write in short, brief paragraphs. Pay attention to your favorite blogs that you read the entire way through. You’ll quickly notice that if you write long-winded paragraphs no one will read past the first few lines. 3. Use bullets and numbering. It makes for a visually pleasing article and the brain can more easily compartmentalize or ‘chunk’ information in order to retain it more easily. 4. Make sure you end with a call to action. You can tell people that the job rate is lower than it has been for years, but if the point of the article is to provoke action [...]

Two Great Ways To Determine The ROI of Social Media

Finding the right metrics for determining ROI of social media is different depending on what type of business your run and what your goals are. In my recent interview with Nate Kievman, he shared his perspective on how the ROI of social media should be calculated for different organizations and I’m certain that it will be very enlightening for many entrepreneurs and business people that struggle to represent the real-time benefits of it. Determine Your Metrics For Success Kievman asserts that most organizations come from two strands of thought: ROI focused but also very results-driven (Favored by Direct Marketers) Branding organizations that are focused on building a brand As we continued to discuss the big divide that exists between these two ways of thinking in the social marketing world, it was determined that both of these strategies are very applicable and very powerful in their own ways but you can’t measure them both in the same way. “You will see things like Radiant6 (popular social marketing tool) and other tools like that that have come about because they are measuring influence by mentions which is a branding metric of success. “When most people think of ROI, they’re thinking return on [...]

5 Major Business Benefits of A Great Blogging Strategy

A great blogging strategy is the cornerstone for any social administration. If you’re not blogging and you don’t understand the power of blogging then you’re missing the boat. These are some wise words from my friend Nate Kievman, Executive Editor of LinkedIn & Business Magazine. It’s tough for many businesses to comprehend the importance or significance of a great blogging strategy and I don’t blame them. Many people often say: “Who would want to read what I have to say? I’ve got nothing to write about!”  The goal in creating a blogging strategy is uncovering what it is that would be of interest to your target market. Imagine you’re looking at the wheel and you have all the different social networks on the outside of it. The hub is going to be the blog and that’s going to give you an access point to authenticity, to engaging people and pulling them into your marketing funnels whatever that may be. Taking A Stand On Your Virtual Stage When Nate and I recently discussed the power of blogging, he mentioned a great story about a friend of his who is making seven figures working only a handful of days in a year. Where the attraction of social media has grown for entrepreneurs, the frustration keeps a firm lead ahead as businesses everywhere struggle to successfully incorporate these mystical digital tools of the future. Kelowna and the entire Okanagan Valley is a hot spot for social media activity. It’s not unusual to see 50 over even hundreds over comments on Facebook posts from local radio stations in under an hour. It isn’t unusual to see radio stations easily command a dominate social presence but it is very unusual to see activity on those posts from local Kelowna businesses that are advertising products and services. Melonie Dodaro, international social media speaker and founder of Top Dog Social Media, has called out businesses for poor practice of social media as the reason for their failures. “They are barely keeping their heads above water with social media.
